I have a deep appreciation for music, especially instrumental pieces that evoke powerful emotions. Classical guitar, electric violin, and the enchanting piano are among my favorites.

Recently, I had the privilege of attending a Summerville Orchestra concert, an experience I gladly embraced when a friend couldn't use tickets from their season passes.

A Surprise Date Night: Unveiling the Magic of Summerville Orchestra

Originally intending to take my son for a cultural experience, plans changed, leading my husband and me to enjoy an unexpected date night at the Summerville Orchestra.

Arriving just in time, we found open seats in a hall that, unfortunately, had more emptiness than expected.

The evening commenced with announcements from Executive Director Andrew Price, shedding light on the orchestra's fundraising efforts for financial support.

After the orchestra tuned their instruments, Conductor, Wojciech Milewski, took center stage with unmatched energy and a touch of humor.

Enchanting Performances and Disney Magic

Having been part of various musical groups, I was unprepared for the extraordinary energy radiating from Wojciech Milewski.

His entrance, marked by a theatrical slide onto the stage, set the tone for a captivating evening. The playbill enriched the experience by providing stories behind each musical piece, creating a vivid mental landscape during the performance.

A delightful surprise came in the middle of the concert when tunes from Aladdin filled the air, adding a touch of Disney magic to the evening.

Two Disappointments

While the night was a musical journey, a couple of disappointments lingered. The Need for Youthful Presence

First, the absence of a younger audience left me feeling disheartened. Music has the power to transport young minds, and I believe more youths should experience it firsthand. My son, being one of them, and I wished he could be there.

Unfilled Seats

Secondly, the noticeable gaps in the audience's seats raised concerns about the orchestra's visibility. While I became aware of the orchestra's existence just a week before attending, I couldn't help but wonder if the empty seats were due to a lack of awareness or a potential waning interest from the younger generation.

An Unforgettable Evening of Music and Imaginative Escape

What to listen for in the playbill made for an extraordinary experience at the Summerville Orchestra.

Despite the above disappointments, attending a Summerville Orchestra concert is an experience worth embracing.

Reading the "What to Listen For" section for each song added a layer of depth, allowing the mind to wander freely.

As I shared the magical night with my son, his eagerness to attend the next concert was palpable.

If you have the opportunity to attend a Summerville Orchestra concert, seize it. Let the music take hold of your imagination, and you might find yourself eagerly anticipating the next performance, just like my family and me.

  • Who leads the trips?
Currently, all of our trips are personally guided by me, Susan, the owner of SueQ Travel. I travel with each group to ensure everything runs smoothly and that we make the most of every moment.
  • Do I need to plan anything, or is everything handled?
Everything is planned and arranged for you. That includes accommodations, transportation, and scheduled activities. Some meals are also included. All you need to do is pack your bags and show up ready to enjoy.
  • What makes SueQ Travel different from a big tour company?
We focus on small group travel for a reason. With fewer people, there is less hassle and more heart. Our trips feel like traveling with friends rather than being part of a large crowd. Plus, I am right there with you, ready to adjust plans and provide local insight along the way.
  • Can I travel solo, or do I need a group to join?
Absolutely. Many of our travelers come solo. We welcome individuals, pairs, and small friend groups.
  • Are your trips physically demanding?
Most of our trips involve a moderate level of physical activity. This usually includes walking tours, light hikes, and exploring on foot. If a trip is more relaxed or more active than usual, that will be noted in the trip description.
  • Will I have any free time?
Yes. While the days are thoughtfully planned, we always leave space for rest, spontaneity, and those magical moments you cannot schedule. Whether you want a quiet afternoon or time to explore on your own, there is room for that.
  • Do I book my own flight?
Unless stated otherwise, travelers are responsible for booking their own flights. SueQ Travel can assist with flight bookings if needed. We also urge travelers to wait to book your flight until the trip has been officially confirmed. I am happy to offer guidance on the best arrival and departure times or which airports to use.

  • Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. We strongly recommend travel insurance for all travelers. It helps protect you in case of unexpected delays, cancellations, or emergencies. We are happy to recommend trusted providers if you need help finding a policy.
  • What if plans change or the trip gets canceled?
Life happens. If SueQ Travel needs to cancel a trip for any reason, you will be given the option to transfer your payment to another trip or receive a refund based on the terms outlined at booking. We also suggest booking flexible flights and travel insurance for your own protection.
  • Are your trips good for kids or teens?
Most of our trips are designed for adults, but we do offer occasional family-friendly or mother-and-child trips that are perfect for younger travelers. Each trip will clearly note if it's suitable for children or teens.
  • Do I need a passport?
If we’re traveling internationally, yes, you will need a valid passport. Make sure it’s up to date and will not expire within six months of your travel dates. For U.S.-based trips, a government-issued REAL ID is now required.
  • Can I make payments over time?
Yes. Most of our trips offer payment plans with a deposit up front and the remaining balance split into installments. Full details will be shared during the booking process.
  • What kind of accommodations do you use?
We stay in well-located, comfortable accommodations that reflect the character of the destination. This might be a charming hotel, a cozy inn, or a scenic vacation rental. Each place is chosen with care to offer a good night's rest and a memorable experience.
  • What if I get sick or injured during the trip?
Your safety is always a priority. I travel with every group and can help coordinate care if something unexpected happens. We recommend that all travelers carry travel insurance that includes medical coverage for extra peace of mind.
  • Can I arrive early or stay after the trip ends?
Definitely. Many travelers choose to add extra days before or after the group itinerary. We can offer suggestions or help with bookings if you'd like to extend your time in the area.
  • What’s the age range of your travelers?
Most of our travelers are adults ranging from their 30s to 70s, though we have welcomed both younger and older guests as well. We focus more on shared travel values like curiosity, kindness, and flexibility than on age.
  • Do you offer gift certificates or travel as a gift?
Yes. Travel makes a wonderful gift. We can create a custom digital or printed certificate for any amount or toward a specific trip. Reach out to set one up for someone special.
